Blwyddyn Newydd Dda / Happy New Year

Published by Les on

Well, that’s another year over, and what  year it’s been!

Way back in January we were having major problems with the builders of our former web-site, so by February and March, I was working on this web-site, and what a learning curve that was. By mid April we were ready to launch the new web site, but news of that paled into insignificance compared with the amazing news that we were grand parents, and no matter how busy things have been this year, little Osian has been at the centre of all our plans.

Shortly after that great news, Pren and my work were featured in a really prestigious magazine. At first there came a brief article about me, then an article about an unusual bowl I’d made

…and so the year progressed, an exhibition at Plas Brondanw, several articles published in “Woodturning” magazine, a guest-artist exhibition at Ty Siamas, in Dolgellau. Perhaps the most rewarding thing to happen, though, was the set-up of tuition sessions at my main workshop. So far, we’ve had about 25 students through the workshop and it has been remarkably rewarding. In November we took the decision to suspend teaching throughout December, so that we could concentrate on commissions and stock ready for Christmas. Instead, we issued training gift-vouchers to the twenty-or-so people who contacted us to purchase training sessions for family or friends. As a result, January is going to be very, very busy, but the shop will stay closed until February. Experience tells us that the shop will be quiet throughout the start of the new year, so we’ll concentrate on training and building stock.

So there it is, a year in a nutshell, but no matter how busy and how amazing it was, there can be only one highlight for us, and that’s our little Osian; so here he is, seeing the year out for us in his Christmas Elf costume….

That just leaves me to say a big “Thank you” to all our customers for their support throughout the year, to all those who read our blog and who share it to help spread the word. A very happy and prosperous new year to you all. We’ll see you next year!
