For those who wish to experience a practical session of woodturning, courses are held in our newly built workshop at our home, in Bala. The workshop is well equipped for one-to-one teaching, with a large, modern lathe and a wealth of tools and accessories that might be needed.
Whether you simply want to experience as little as a two-hour taster session just to experience the craft of woodturning, or whether you want to commence or develop woodturning as a hobby, a course can be structured to meet your needs. Students who register for a course will be contacted in advance to discuss their needs and wishes, and we’ll do our best to fulfil them for you. The course will include all the PPE, materials, abrasives and finishes that you might need; all that you have to bring is your enthusiasm and perhaps a packed lunch! There will be an emphasis upon getting the most out of your time, through having an enjoyable, productive and safe experience.
Our principal lathe is a Record Maxi 1, with swivel head. Sessions are generally arranged on a one-to-one basis, but when a second student is involved, a smaller lathe will also be used.
