Attended one of Les wood turning courses this week and It was one of the best and most enjoyable things I have done. I came away with a desire to continue it as a hobby and a oak burr bowl that surpassed my expectations. Les is a great teacher he understands, and can simply explain any aspect of the process. and the one to one tuition was great. Highly recommended, Thank you Les.

I’ve been lucky enough to have 5 commissions now from Les at Pren, all of which are stunning, unique and individual pieces.  I’ve trusted Les completely with his ideas for each piece and his artistic talent has never disappointed.  Very proud to have them on display, and he’s a fantastic guy to work with – highly recommended!”

Stephen Rutherford-Bate.

The five pieces turned for Stephen, mostly from his own timber, were a yew vase, a walnut “doughnut” bowl, an apple-wood pot with copper bindings, a conical form from a yew root and a large bowl with a rolled rim in horse chestnut.

“Pren at Bala should be a compulsory visit for all tourists in North Wales. It opened my mind to new directions in turning.”

“Because of the nature of wood every piece is different and at Pren, Les uses his skills and creativity to maximise these differences to make each item he produces a unique and beautiful work of art”

“I took my son to a Wood Turning Taster Session with Les and he had an absolutely fantastic time. He made a bowl out of oak, scorched it and lime waxed it. He loved being able to use the machines and coming home with something to show for his efforts.”
