Pren re-opens….for a while!

Published by Les on

After ten frustrating weeks of dealing with an absentee landlord, insurance company, builder and loss-adjuster, we’ve finally got the shop ready to re-open and at 10:00 tomorrow morning we’ll be up and running again. Getting the shop cleaned up has been a major undertaking and since we finished the clean-up, we’ve had a week away on Anglesey as a break from all the hassle and all the cleaning, so we’re ready to start again.

During the weeks of our closure, Pren has continued to operate through providing wood-turning tuition, through writing articles for “Woodturning” magazine and by travelling around, doing wood turning demonstrations at clubs in our region. During this time we’ve had the problems of dealing with the rebuilding of the shop store-room, but we’ve also had the most amazing time entertaining our 19-month-old grandson, and we’ve come to realise what we’ve been missing out and so we’ve decided to change the focus of the business so that we spend more time at home.

We will keep the shop open until Christmas to give us a chance to sell much of the bought-in stock, such as candles, lanterns, figurines and all the metal and ceramic bowls and vases etc. Prices will be drastically reduced and there will be discounts of as much as 60% on all this bought-in stock, so this will be a great chance to buy Christmas presents, or just to spoil yourself! We’ll also be announcing spot-sales, with extra special offers on certain items, and we’ll be starting this with a “Halloween” sale, so there’ll be all manner of spooky lanterns and even black tea-lights.

Most importantly, Pren will continue, but the focus will change so that I can concentrate on the wood turning and my work will continue to be available for local customers, through Bala’s specialist art gallery, Oriel Tan yr Hall, whilst for those living a little further afield, we’ll also have permanent stock available at Ty Siamas in Dolgellau and at Artworks in Aberdyfi, and through seasonal exhibitions at several regional galleries. I will, of course, also be available for private commissions.
