Commissions

If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone special, be it a friend, a family member, a colleague or just for yourself, what better way could there be than to commission a piece which will be designed and made especially for you. Your purchase will be unique and will be planned and made with the recipient in mind.

These three images are examples of privately commissioned pieces. Clockwise, from top left…

  • a platter in beech, pyro-engraved with Celtic symbols and fitted with a cabochon of Cornish “Serpentine” stone and tinned leather
  • detail of a cherry-wood bowl made from our customer’s own timber, with leather thong and copper embellishments
  • “Concentricity”, a sculpture in oak burr and slate, commissioned by the John Lewis Partnership.

As a part of the planning process, Les will discuss your needs, using images of past work, samples of the timbers that we stock and of the complimentary range of materials that he likes to use in his work. Commissions are truly bespoke pieces, made with your wishes and your schedule in mind, indeed, our commissions are often made from our customers’ own timber, where the host tree has had some sentimental significance.
